Tention Free : Please introduce yourself to the readers and how and when did you first get into Music Industry?
My name is Joel F Myles Jr ( aKa) B Way J / Broadway Joe, i was born in the Midwest and raised in NYC, i started out early in my life breakdancing, i hung out with mostly DJ’s , Mc’s etc. I eventually purchased some turntables and started making mixtapes DJing parties. Formed a crew called RNS (rockin non stop) we started breakdancing @ charities battling local crews for props & money we made a name for ourselves in Astoria Queens. I also was the DJ for clothing lines (ShaBazz Bros, did a few parties for Twizim Shaq’s first clothing line)i started producing and writing my own music, released a few mixtapes and demos for my group Vytal Sygnz as well as other independent artists. Doing shows performing songs i produced wrote and co-wrote. We always looking to grow, so we can appreciate this interview very much.
Tention Free : Tell us about your new upcoming project(s)?
I have several however will let ya’ll in on a few
1) My mix tape called Versez! Which is a collection of verses and some full length songs i wrote dedicated to the producers who showed me love online Facebook, Soundcloud etc….
2) Is my new album called Broadway Joe!.
Tention Free : So, everyone knows you make music and your a talented entertainer, but who motivated you, who’se some of your favorite people to listen to?
My initial motivation comes from me wanting to be a better person in life, second from my father who sang in church.
Some of the people I listen to are Tupac, Whodinni, KRS1, Nas, Jay-Z, Snopp, Eminem, Dre, Rakim and Primo Mobb Deep, 50cent, Treach and Tragedy to name a few.
Tention Free : What motivates you to do your best work as a recording artist?
Jay-z Nas Busta artist who are just creative beasts in general i vibe off good energy.
Tention Free : If you could perform anywhere, in the world, where would it have to be?
Madison Square Garden no question.
Tention Free : What’s your favourite style of music to make?
Hip Hop / World music i never limit myself.
Tention Free : Who are your musical inspirations?
Ray Charles, Marvin Gay, Gladys Knight, Quincey Jones, MJ, Prince, Barry White Nina Simone.
Tention Free : Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to be a Recording Artist?
Grind Hard everyday be able to take criticism and build and help other artist as well we all can be successful together is my motto.
