Tention Free: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, music passion etc. ??
I was born and raised in Texas and I’ve been musically inclined since a young kid. My mom would have me in choir and I’ve always felt a deep connection to music from within. My mom would play old school hip hop and r&b around me, and along with me being able to mesh with different crowds of people and energy, I’ve been able to develop an ear for every genre. Throughout my school years, everyone told me to make music but I didn’t start until my first college semester. I quickly learned that the classroom wasn’t a place I felt I’d thrive so after some semesters I stopped going. At the time, there wasn’t much direction but I knew even though I just started, I still had music.
Tention Free: Anything you want to share with us about your music?
It’s told from a story perspective based on phases I go through. I reveal more things through time.
Tention Free: Can you please tell our readers more about YUP!?
Up until this point I’ve been in the background just figuring out myself but this signifies me being more intentional and going from observation mode to full functional artist.
Tention Free: What’s the reason behind choose this name for your single?
I’m gettin straight to the point. I don’t need anything extra. Everything else will come and I know this.
Tention Free: What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far?
Probably seeing myself and the team around me form and start knocking down milestones. Also fan interaction. That’s who I do it for is the youth, I show them they can be themselves and do whatever they want. I build a relationship with each person instead of treating them like a fan.
Tention Free: What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?
I’m focused on elevating and getting closer to myself. I’ve been more centered on my purpose so I do things with my legacy in mind. Also, to help as many people remember who they are and be more comfortable as themselves. Just be myself really.
Tention Free: What motivates you to do your best work?
Knowing what im here to do and what I can achieve musically. Every time I make a song I try to do better than the last song, and I feel like I do. If it doesn’t feel right, I scrap the whole thing and move on, sometimes I come back to it. Most of my songs are unreleased anyways, so I know when I have a song I want to release. Also I feel like people don’t really know what I can do with my vocals yet, so it’s exciting watching it unfold.
Tention Free: Did you choose this industry, as a career, or as a hobby?
I guess career, but I plan on creating more lanes from this, I’m very creative and talented. I always knew I liked music but I don’t just “like” it, it feels right.
Tention Free: Your fav. Song?
Probably this song I recently made it’s on my project coming in August “Zay3K Don’t Talk”, it’s called “remedy”. It’ll probably change tomorrow though.
Tention Free: Are you active on social media?
Yes, but I feel like an old head cause I don’t care about it, but I’ll be more active over time, it’s all a plan.
