Tention Free: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, writing passion etc.?
To begin with, all I will say about my past was I was born in Jacksonville, Florida.
I never saw myself as a writer at first. However, that all changed when I was in seven grade. I remember Mrs. Fahs, my teacher gave an assignment to describe a party which had gone wrong. Since I did not have the experience in the way of parties, I decided to do what any child would have done, made it all up! The original story, which has been sadly lost, consisted of a group of fictional characters having a party with me. However things began to deteriorate when zombies came in and wrecked havoc! Amazingly, it was one of those rare instances where making up something for school resulted in a passing grade! Not only did Mrs. Fahs like the story I wrote, I also came to love fiction writing!
It was also around this time I had discovered, through my older brother, Japanese Anime. Aside from its alluring art form, Japanese Anime is also noted for having complex story lines and characters. Which is why Anime has a high appeal for me. The same could be said for video games because by the mid-1990s, they became a reputable entertainment medium.
In high school, one of my classes was interestingly enough, creative writing. There is no doubt that I was the top student in that class! It was amazingly fun and every writing assignment consisted of a strange blend of tragicomedy with some sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and action thrown in. From then on, I knew what I wanted to do.
Although my fiction writing took a backseat in my college years; mainly because of art and youtube videos, I did manage to dust it off my love of fiction writing as I wanted to return to my creative roots.
Tention Free: We been hearing a lot about your poetry anthology Atop the Bookshelf, so we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?
I am impressed so far with the notoriety I have been receiving lately. Now I am doing everything I can to court attention to Atop the Bookshelf. Once this momentum stops, then the notoriety dries up and I will simply become another writer who missed their chance. I choose not to let that happen. I am going to exceed my expectations and arouse the attention needed to gain readers.
Tention Free: What’s the reason behind writing the “Atop the bookshelf”?
Atop the Bookshelf was originally written to be part of massive work comprising various short stories and a novel. However, I felt it was wiser to separate the work into three different works altogether. The reason being was the work itself became too large and too involving.
The novel, which has been titled Quest to Mikuela, shall see release at a later date. The currently untitled short story/novella collection is still being drafted as we speak.
Tention Free: What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far?
The completion and publication of Atop the Bookshelf is perhaps the most exciting part. This is because it represents five years of drafting and writing. Even when there were times when it seemed impossible to complete Atop the Bookshelf, I pressed onward. What you see now is the result of hard work and determination.
Tention Free: What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?
Writing my next string of books, starring in my next short films, losing weight, and becoming more than what I am! I refuse to let past failures, setbacks, and hindrances hold me down any longer!
Atop the Bookshelf represents a message to my naysayers that I can, and will, accomplish what I desire in this life.
Tention Free: What motivates you to do your best work as a writer?
I want my stories to be entertaining and my plots thick. I also desire my characters to be plausible. Think about it: my readers desire the best from me and I plan on giving it to them.
Tention Free: Did you choose writing, as a career, or as a hobby?
I chose it as a career because it is what I want do with my life…well one of many things I wish to do. My stories, poems, novels, and various other planned works are a means of getting there. I refuse to disclose anything else about my plans in life. This is because the more I talk about them, the less those plans will come to fruition.
Tention Free: Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?
I attend pop culture conventions in North Florida where I cosplay and mingle with other artists, actors, and authors. Another thing I enjoy doing in my free time is drawing.
I have plans on attending cartooning classes in the future. The reason being is one of my upcoming books involves a lot in the way of artwork. I cannot say much about that one work, except it will be…strange.
Tention Free: How can people find you and follow you online?
I have yet to create a facebook group page. However, I create ASMR videos. Which is perhaps the best way to contact me.
