Tention Free : Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, passion etc. ??
Well the beginning was a blur, My parents made some love, got married and 9 months later I came out of it. Layed around a lot the first 10 months of my life.
Crapped my pants a ton. Then I had the frustrating task of learning to walk and yell for attention. Was bottle and spoon fed a ton as well. Can’t remember much of all that. I have to take people’s word for it. Growing up I wrecked many a power wheels spacing out.. Role played power rangers and ghostbusters among other trendy characters on the school playground mid childhood. Teenage years were spent producing “Dudes FU Dad Vol 1-2k” Thought I was fly as hell.. Picked up smoking.. Then i graduated high school…. So yea long story short.. Normal western united states rural childhood.
After school I was a caretaker… I had great thoughts of college but duty called. So it was a day job and a truck and motorcycle payment. Had tons of fun with the bike. Saw a ton of countryside and met people of all walks of life. 9 days after my 21st birthday I had a major motorcycle accident. Was pretty lucky with that one.. It wasn’t more than a few months later that my father would have his own motorcycle accident. He was killed.. It turned me away from riding for almost 15 years.
The months, preceding my dad’s passing I started developing interest in myspace blogging. I had a character persona i wrote under and actually did pretty well. I signed on as a blogger with Pointless Banter and also ended up doing podcasts on the then very new blogtalk radio. I did that until about 2008. I really enjoyed it, but at the time it seemed more taxing.
So, I quit doing that and found other interests until about 2011 when I teamed up with a friend of mine to start a publication. We ended up producing one title.. Life happened again and the project sank. From 2012-2014 I was in a seriously bad place. But it was one of those situations where after it was all over I was really thankful for it.
I actually at this point in time pulled the trigger and started up in furthering my education. My path of choice was wildlife biology. My second semester in I ended up meeting a girl who I fell in love with. We at this time have been together for 4 years and married 3. We ended up starting an Agricultural Business that we still operate. It was during the development phase of that venture that I quit school to focus on the business. Mechanic work is pretty much full time work on a farm. And I also looked at the awful truth of the matter. Farming is just as bad as gambleing. You can have a good year and the next complete collapse.
It was the end of the second tax year for the business that I decided to follow my dream and build a race truck. I found the scene to be extremely invaluable to me. I love wrench work and creating things. Having gone from paper to peeling skin off my knuckles busting them against engine blocks certainly was and is my happy place.
Tention Free : What motivates you to do your best work as refurbished automotive parts dealer?
Money, and absolutely poor competition… This is more than likely the shortest answer will give you
Tention Free : How and when did you do your first deal?
Haha. yeah so I had a lazy day or two. My wife got tired of the “junk in the car port. I was loading it into my truck and had stuff everywhere. This older gentleman and his wife where on a walk. He spotted some rims I had and asked if I would sell them. I quoted a price and we haggled for a moment.. He paid me and came back later and picked up the merch. Easiest deal ever I’m tellin ya.
Tention Free : What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?
You know I try not to get ahead of myself. I’ve found when I do.I cause a train wreck. The Dude Dangerous persona is gaining traction. I believe it is only on account of taking it slow. I certainly want to push for more races. exhibitions and classic car shows. But I also want to stay low key. My goal I guess is to stay real and on the edge and just intensify.
I see the parts game riding smooth, I see green fields and cool air in our little spot in the rocky mountain region. I see more hilarious videos and characters. The Dude getting up to his ears in trouble. And possibly even a short film. It’s all on paper we just need to be patient.
Tention Free : What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far ?
Oh boy. typical question. but a good one nonetheless. In the nature of the serious side of the business…
Hands down the custom Honda Trail90 saga… I picked the motorcycle up for free actually.
It was a “Come get it or its scap” situation had everything wrong.with you could think of. I tore it apart and rebuilt the engine.. In the process I.decided I would theme it. Themed bikes are not something I am in to.. So this was really off the wall for me.
I went with a Deadpool cosmetic job. Gloss black and red. Put dual gas.tanks on it. Did a custom gauge cluster.. Before putting it all back together. I had found some decals that just screamed attitude. So i stuck em on and finished the clear coat. Got it back together and listed it on the facebook marketplace. Keep in mind this was “The” listing that ended up spawning the Dude Dangerous persona.
For some reason the facebook AI registered the primary photo as being a sex toy. I found this out after three attempts at listing with the third resulting in 3 days in facebook jail. In my appeal process I was properly released and both the facebook rep and I had a good laugh.
When I relisted it I started the spill with “Note to the powers that be. This is not an ad for big black dildos” then went off on a Deadpool worthy tangent. Within minutes I was getting lit up with people telling me this was the best sales pitch they had ever seen. The bike didn’t stay on the market long.. I really do believe the relaxed nature of the listing is what really sold it.
Tention Free : Did you choose this industry as a career, or as a hobby?
You know it just kinda fell in my lap. When I built the race truck I had all these extra parts. I cleaned them up and listed them for sale and people bought them. I got compliments on my attention to detail.. I also noticed the guys who don’t put effort in cleaning up what they sell and how long they hold onto the inventory.
I then started buying salvage cars and so on. Classic cars in either total rust bucket shape or mild rust bucket shape. Then again effort was placed into making them worth someone’s time. The rest is history
Tention Free : Any upcoming project, as a satirical entertainer?
Everything that encompasses the Dude Dangerous brand is satire. At Least what you see online. The business at its core is serious as a heart attack. But the rest is my twist on business. I don’t want to be the cookie cutter sales guy. “Walk this way” “drop these hot words” “build this list” “post this bullshit”. Most of my customers need the laughs. Further Dangerous is a guy people love to hate. You don’t know what his political agendas are. You don’t know if he’s self serving or if he’s an empath. All you know is there’s always comedy and senseless drama. Oh and cars and trucks and all kinda redneck shit haha.
Tention Free : You say you are a goon rider so what’s your goal you want to achieve?
Oh lord, foremost is NOT getting killed. If you look up the term It’s essentially trolling. But nevertheless it’s entertaining. The goal I guess is a gambit of emotions. Mostly just pure comedy gold .
Tention Free : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?
I want to say killing, stealing, booze and whores. But this is 2019. and we all emotionally respond in a negative way to most things.
I really don’t take time off as someone who is self employed. However I do my fair share of camping and outdoors relates activity with the family. The Race truck is my release. Believe it or not I am spiritual, I like to empower myself by reading. I also like me a good ole fashioned crude cartoon.
I enjoy trading stocks, cryptocurrency and all that jazz. Most of all I enjoy.my alone time with my wife and children. I lucked out in that department so I try and take it in as.much as I can.
Tention Free : How can people find you and follow you online?
Follow the trail of butt hurt… Look for people screaming how horrible something is. Usually I’m around haha. But the best way.is to hit up http://DudeDangerous.com. Not.much on the website but all my social media links are front and center. I also hang out in my telegram channel DudeDangerous.
My products I list on the facebook marketplace and classified ads.. I do have a pdf catalog you can request. But really if you follow me on social media you will get all aspects of the dude dangerous experience.
