Tention Free: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education, music passion etc. ??
Well, I’m a music producer by trade I was born in Macon, GA, USA and I grew up in between living in Atlanta, GA and St. Louis, MO. I’m currently in St. Louis, MO. I went to college in Kansas, where I played basketball and football. I’ve been doing music for over 20 years. I started with a rap group called the Avenjahs and I’ve produced music for many mainstream recording artists, and been involved in many successful music projects. I played the Grammys in 2003! I LOVE Hip-Hop, I’m a little older so I’ve seen the formation and growth of the culture on many levels and I think it’s a WONDERFUL art form. I grew up listening to my favorites A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Outkast, and Wu-Tang Clan. I also love neo-soul music as well. I LOOOOVE JILL SCOTT, and Stevie Wonder is my biggest musical influence without question.
Tention Free: Can you please tell our readers more about your profession ?
I am the founder and CEO of the Dieselhampton Music group. I am a music producer, video director, multi-instrument musician, and (semi-retired) rapper.
Tention Free: Any upcoming project?
I’m currently finalizing my producer album and releasing several projects by my artists. I just directed “I Can’t Breathe(Black Lives Matter)” music video by the Avenjahs and currently filming “Foreign f./ Anonymous E, Gho$t, and Syn Alexander” the video for my lead single from my album
Tention Free: What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far ?
I’ve toured all over the world and played the Grammys and produced several mainstream songs which reached Platinum status. But I’d have to say convincing my wife to marry me would be my best achievement so far (LOL)
Tention Free: What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?
I want to WIN a Grammy and make DieselHampton Music Group (DHMG) as big as Motown was in it’s prime.
Tention Free: What motivates you to do your best work?
I love what I do and I’ve always believed why do anything if you can’t do your best. I want my daughters to see their Daddy in his best light at all times so i work HARDEST to be a positive role model in their life.
Tention Free: Did you choose this industry, as a career, or as a hobby?
A career I’ve wanted to be in music since i was 9
Tention Free: Your favourite celebrity?
I have a few actually, but there may be a 3-way tie for the top. Jay-Z, Lebron James and Barack Obama. I love the way Jay-Z went from his position to becoming the most powerful man in rap music the “CEO of Hip-Hop” In music he is my all time favorite. Lebron is just OUTSTANDING, from his work ethic, to his desire to be the best REGARDLESS of what people say about him, and his willingness to STAND UP for what’s right regardless of opposing opinions. And finally Barack, Even though he’s out of office, to me he’s STILL MR. President. He proved to MILLIONS of Black people (myself included) that if you believe and work hard enough you can ACHIEVE whatever you desire. I love how he speaks and the fact that he is a true leader cannot EVER be denied.
Tention Free: Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?
I spend all the time I can with my 3 daughters Phoenix, Brooklyn, and London. Free time is Daddy and daughter days and we hang out and hug up on each other and watch movies and play video games.
