Tention Free : Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get started in music??
Since I was a kid I loved being a ham and performing for everyone so in high school I pursued musical theater. I always knew I wanted to be a performer, but it wasn’t until college that I started pursuing a musical career.
Tention Free : We heard about your new campaign to use your music to raise money for charity: how did you decide on Choc Children’s?
Well, CHOC has a very special place near and dear to my heart all because they fixed mine. When I was three The Dr.s at CHOC performed an open heart surgery that saved my life. Without them I wouldn’t be here today. So really, it wasn’t hard deciding to raise funds for such a wonderful organization.
Tention Free : That must have been a really Hard experience, how has that shaped your music?
Yeah it was at times, kids can be mean and tease and stare and point. But I think that helped me grow up in a society where you’re used to being judged. My journey just taught me to get over it and ultimately made me a performer.
Tention Free : What motivates you to keep going in such a crowded arena?
My motivation is knowing in my heart that we all have a story to share and a job to do to help make the world a brighter happier place!
Tention Free : What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far?
Definitely have to say that my Music Video for my single “FREAK” being nominated for the best dark music video by MyZoneTV in Russia.
Tention Free : What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?
I’d like to start a family.
Tention Free : What would you say to someone struggling with a similar story that wants to pursue music?
Yes growing up ill is difficult, and it’s an unfortunate reality for families around the world. But an illness does not define you, you define yourself. An illness should not stop you from pursuing your dreams. That’s the message that I think a lot of kids need to hear. Some of my music may not be too kid friendly. But I do have some pretty young fans and I want to let them all know “No matter what cards life has dealt you, never let those cards hold you back from experiencing life and following your dreams.”
Tention Free : Did you choose music industry, as a career, or as a hobby?
Started as a hobby when I was a kid but it didn’t take long for me to decide I absolutely wanted to pursue a career in music.
Tention Free : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?
Travel. My girlfriend and I Spent almost a month in Japan last year.
