“I plan to make music for the rest of my life, regardless of what happens as far as a career goes, as music is my one and only passion.”__ Riddiman
We recently interviewed the versatile artist Riddiman, who is a famous Singer and Songwriter..
Check out the interview :
Tention Free : Tell us a little bit about yourself, your background, education etc?
Riddiman :
I’m 20 years old and I live in a small boring town. I went to a school not far from where I live where I took a course in I.T. I used to be very interested in computers and technology as well as music. I just about managed to get my I.T. qualification in school, then I went on to a higher qualification in college but their was never a chance of me getting that unfortunately. My interests had completely changed to music by that time.
Tention Free : We been hearing a lot about you and your work from plenty of people, we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?
Riddiman :
Good! I spent so long making music without showing or telling anybody because I didn’t feel it was good enough. So now when somebody brings it up first in conversation it makes it all worth it.
Tention Free : And what you say about your new single “ Need You ”?
Riddiman :
I wanted to make a song which was a balance between happy and upbeat sounds and more emotional lyrics I suppose. I like to think its a song you could listen to without paying too much attention, but at the same time if you did, you would hopefully enjoy it even more.
Tention Free : What motivates you to do your best work as a Singer & Songwriter?
Riddiman :
Going to work. I work two normal jobs Sunday – Friday. There not the worst jobs in the world but their far from the best. For me ‘the dream’ is to be able to live comfortably from just making my music, so doing these average jobs just motivates me more and more to keep writing, producing and recording.
Tention Free : At what point did you decided to become a musician?
Riddiman :
When i was 18 I started recording, but looking back I don’t really know what pushed me to it at that exact point in time. I didn’t really think of it as a massive thing, I just had some lyrics written to an instrumental I found on youtube. Before ever sharing my music I recorded lyrics on my laptops microphone to see what it would sound like with a beat, it sounded terrible, funnily enough… But I still decided to buy a microphone and after I recorded the first track I just carried on writing and eventually got into producing.
Tention Free : What are you working on now and where do you feel your music is headed?
Riddiman :
I’m always working on loads of different songs at once. Sometimes I start a track and don’t finish it for months, then other times I’ll make a beat, write some lyrics and record it all in one day, It just depends on how I’m feeling about the song. Im hoping to finish another mixtape this year, but like I said, I don’t really know specifically yet what kind of music will be on it.
Tention Free : What are your future plans for singing & songwriting? Your vision for the coming years.
Riddiman :
I’m just going to carry on making original music, doing whatever feels right at the time.
Tention Free : How’s your feelings when you start recording and sharing your music at the age of 18?
Riddiman :
I was scared of what people would think. I didn’t want to give people the impression I was rapping because I thought it was a cool thing to do. I make music because I enjoy it and I was just hoping people wouldn’t take it too seriously at the time, because it wasn’t.
Tention Free : Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?
Riddiman :
When I do get time alone I usually always try to spend it doing something productive like writing, if I can’t write I produce and if I can’t do that I record. Occasionally though, I’ll spend about an hour in a hot bath just listening to my favourite music, that’s the only time I really switch off.
Tention Free : How can people find you and follow you online?
Riddiman :
