How long have you been writing?
Actually this is my first novel. I’m a freshmen author. To be honest I wrote my book , Eating The Forbidden Fruit, years ago but I lost my desire to publish it. Most recently I experienced a major lost, my mother passing. I promised her and my family I would complete it. So i updated it and put everything in motion.
What is your book about?
It’s a fictional novel based on true events in my life. I was a St. Louis Police Officer that was convicted of federal crimes. My life has been a roller coaster ride due to bad choices I have made in the past. It’s a story of karma coming back ten folds. Indulging in immoral acts can lead to criminal behavior. Some officers get a God complex. Their above the law and immune to repercussions. I got so adsorb in my selfish nature I lost myself. In my story line I reflect back for answers where did I go wrong. I put my heart and soul into it.
Why did you title it “Eating the Forbidden Fruit”?
Well when law enforcement commit unethical or criminal acts it’s classified Fruit of the Poisonous Tree. Sin is the forbidden fruit. So I felt the title was appropriate for my situation. Let me be clear I never considered myself a corrupt cop because when I wore my uniform I did my job well. I never used my authority to do any criminal act. Yet i admit outside uniform I lived a different life. A life that wasn’t conducive that of a peace officer. Once you take that oath as a commission officer you are obligated to uphold the law. Meaning if you have knowledge or witness a crime you are obligated to act regardless of who’s committing the crime. That goes for friends or family. I didn’t have that commitment to the badge. It takes a strong well individual to put on that uniform.
What do you expect to get out of publishing it and when is it due out?
It will be available early 2020 on Amazon and other major outlets. As far as expectation from the book. My success is that I completed it and kept my promise to my mom. She was such a strong woman. She came to this country from Osaka Japan and spoke little English yet made a way of life for my family
Will this be your last novel then?
Not at all. Actually I have started on another novel titled “Walking The Purple Road”. It’s in the early stages but it’s about my journey dealing with Lupus and a family bond.
