Tention Free: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education etc. ??
I’m Daisy van der Zijden and I’m a Pencil Artist specialized in photorealism. I’m a totally self taught artist.
Tention Free: Can you please tell our readers about your artistic passion ?
I love to draw, because you can put something on paper without words. I love seeing it come to life little by little. I also just really like color. Sometimes I also wear some crazy combinations, but I think that would be part of an artist’s brain, hihi.
Tention Free: Your favourite Artist?
I have a lot of artists that I really like and I get a lot of inspiration from other artists, but I do want to create my own style.
Tention Free: What has been one of the most exciting achievements of your career so far ?
That I won an award for The ATIM’S Top 60 Masters 2022.
Tention Free: What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?
More traveling around the world to show my art. Visiting more art events and I also want to focus more on making videos for youtube. I am currently working on this as well, but I hope to do more in the future.
Tention Free: What motivates you to do your best work as an artist?
Focus, practice and of course enjoy the drawing process, because that’s what it’s all about. And the final end result.
Tention Free: Did you choose this field, as a career, or as a hobby?
It is a hobby, but also a career.
Tention Free: Your favorite food?
Very cliche, but fries, ice cream and japanese food
Tention Free: Everybody needs time out. What do you do in your free time?
What I doing in my free time? Hmmm If I’m not drawing I watch some movies, listen to some music, or I do fun activities with my friends.
Music is also very importent for me. On my youtube channel you can also find many timelapse videos in which you see the drawing come to life step by step with beautiful music underneath. Good music under my drawing videos is just as important to me. Recently I also made a work of an African landscape titled “African Love” and I work together with composer David Lowe. He makes great music and it was an honor to work with him and I can bring his beautiful music together with my work.
