I’ve interviewed a lot of actors and most of them are memorable in some way. Some of them had beautiful eyes or faces, while others had unique voices or a command of the language. Once in a while I am fortunate enough to come across an actor – or rather, a human being who just happens to be an actor – who has something more than the run of the mill person. Matthew C. Martino is one of those bright people. When he sat down for the interview, I could tell immediately that this one was going to be different. I could sense, before he said a word that he was going to be a different kind of personality. And I was right on both counts.
Matthew C. Martino was born on October 27, 1992 in Harare, Zimbabwe as Mathetes Chihwai. He is a best producer and famous actor, known for Never Change (2013), Unhealthy Intentions (2013) and Jericho (2013). He has an award at Colchester Film Festival named after him, the ‘Matthew Martino Risisng Star Award‘.As of 2015 he was a Patron for The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh. Tention Free : We been watching you and been hearing a lot about you and your work from plenty people we notice your starting to gain a lot of attention how does it feel?
Matthew C. Martino : It’s a great feeling… I think it’s kind of cool. I really love that feeling when everyone is cheering, the love and energy I’m getting – I’m loving it
Tention Free : Can you tell us something about you?
Matthew C. Martino : I am the son of Marriage Builders founder Denias S. Chihwai and Beauty Chihwai. I Attended high school at Shenfield High School in Brentwood, Essex. My birth name Mathetes is Greek and means humble disciple. I’ve had the skies in my head since I was a little boy. My first flight on the flight deck was on 11/9/2011 aboard a Cessna 152 and took flight lessons at Stapleford Flight Centre in Essex. I also designed iPhone/iPad app Lets Fly.
Tention Free: Tell us about your business. What do you like most, least?
Matthew C. Martino : Wow, I love what I do, otherwise I would not be able to do it because you must be a little bit nuts to be an entrepreneur as it is so tough at times. But when you have passion for what you are doing, the hard part doesn’t matter and the pros are larger than the cons. Lets Fly Academy is my business and we provide aviation consultancy services and support young people who want to be pilots.
Tention Free : please tell us somesthing about your famous book Lets Fly and what’s your feelings when it was published. ?
Matthew C. Martino : Writing is not easy, with Lets Fly I was obviously writing about flying which is something that I’m passionate about and happen to know a little bit about. Being able to publish Lets Fly was like my biggest achievement as it took me months to write it and a publisher initially rejected the manuscript so when it finally got published I was really excited.
Tention Free : And what you say about your book “Go For It” ?
Matthew C. Martino : This book is intended for anyone who wants to start up their business so they can start off at an advantage by knowing what can potentially go wrong at the set-up point.
Tention Free : please tell us about your passion with your work ?
Matthew C. Martino : I love filming , I just enjoy seeing the end result, when I watch the fully edited film for the very first time it’s an amazing feeling. And I also adore working in production, the more messy it is the better as I get to get stuck in. I’m not the average producer you see, If I can see the ships sinking I will get up and take charge.
Tention Free : Tell us about MMBF Trust ? and when & why it was launched?
Matthew C. Martino : MMBF Trust launched in 2013, it is the international charity provides scholarships, grants and funding to actors, filmmakers and performers. Our charity is working to tackle some of the toughest challenges within the Film & TV industry as well as the Aviation industry to ensure that adequate support is available for the aspiring generation who will conquer tomorrow. We only focus on a few projects as we feel it’s the best way to gain more impact I understand exactly what each and every aspiring pilot is going through and especially at a young age, it can be tough to think where you will get money for funding so that’s why we lunched it.
Tention Free : Do you set goals for yourself ?
Matthew C. Martino: My future goals are to hopefully be able to help more people, in particular young people.
Tention Free : Is there anything you would like to say before we end?
Matthew C. Martino: Just want to thank everyone who supports me, love them all.
Thanks for taking time out your day to talk to us Mr.Matthew C. Martino.
